30 weeks... Finally!

Sorry for the delay folks! It was a very busy week at the Horton house.
Here are the stats:
How far: 30 weeks
Weight gain: 25 lbs… possibly a little more but it’s just baby fat.
Baby weight: 3 whole pounds!!!
Stretch marks: Nope!! :)
Sleep: Ha! I get some sleep but with that sleep I get aching hips, tingling legs and ribs that feel like they’ve been in a vice for 4 days…. I love it!
Best moment this week: Getting my "place holder" wedding band since my rings no longer fit. Rocking in the glider talking to Crumb about his name… we’ve made a final decision… No, we are still not sharing so there is no need to keep asking.
Movement: Oh yes. As I told my Aunt Patty – his movements are more like waves that gradually build in intensity until I look down and my stomach has completely changed shape and there is a heel sticking out directly below my rib cage. He does still have a few of the big twitches… If he’s anything like his dad, he must be sleeping.
Cravings: Just a damn plain bagel…
Labor signs: Still having a lot of Braxton Hicks – if these are truly practice for the real labor then mine is going to be a piece of cake (and no, I am not naïve enough to think that is really true).
Breakdowns: Oh boy did we ever have a big one last Wednesday! Whew! Wyatt had to go do some additional training and so I was home alone for the night and I just heapy-sobbed all night. LOL, out of control!!
Belly Button: Still a little in, a little out. You can see the “out” part through my shirt now though… it makes me laugh.
What I miss: Sleeping on my back/stomach.
What Wyatt misses: most likely, sleeping in a bed that does not have 500,000,000 pillows on it.
Looking forward to: We are going to the lake this weekend with the K-9 group… I am looking forward to getting in the water and just floating.
Milestones: Crumb is almost 16 inches long! He can now open his eyes and distinguish between light and dark. What a smart little guy.

Place Holder!!

My master photographer (and favorite person) is not home tonight :: :-( :: so you are going to have to wait a day for the 30 week update... you might even have to wait 2 because he might not be home until Friday. :: double :-( ::
To hold you over, I am posting a video of the little guy I used to nanny for. His name is Noah and he is one of the main reasons why I am so incredibly excited about having a baby boy. This is Noah eating pears... while it would seem as though he doesn't like them, he kept coming back for more!! What a precious little guy. I can't wait to post videos like this of our Crumb baby.
We'll see you later with the weekly updates!

Dear Mr. Bruegger's Bagels Man,

Please explain to me why, at 12pm on a Wednesday, your fine establishment would be out of plain bagels? Garlic/oregano/parmesan cheese specialty bagels, I can understand that you might not have those on hand. Plain bagels - unacceptable. What's even more unacceptable is that you were not in the process of creating more... trust me, I asked. Turns out, your ovens weren't even on and would need to heat up before a batch could even begin to bake (apparently a process that takes quite a while - also a process that no one seemed eager or willing to start).
So, Mr. Bruegger's Bagels Man, I blow my nose at you for not having the plain bagel that this pregnant lady has been dreaming about all morning. I fart in your general direction for not offering any attempt at coming up with a solution. But most importantly, I will probably be back tomorrow so please have some plain bagels on hand... please.

So precious!!

Let me first say that of all the big nursery pieces we had to pick out and buy, the glider seemed a no-brainer... wrong. Gliders are ridiculously expensive and finding one that had every feature we wanted (that we wouldn't still be paying off when Crumb got to college) was proving to be impossible. We had finally decided to forget the glider and just get a nice rocking chair from Cracker Barrel or something. Fine, done ::lots and lots of pouting::
Enter WonderMom: "Cat, there is a glider going up at the auction this weekend - it's white with yellow and green fabric that we could cover and it doesn't have an ottoman... but do you want to take a look at it?"
Cat: "Well, we wanted one that was espresso color with an ottoman and we've really just decided to get a rocker... but thanks so much... perhaps I'll go with you to the auction just for fun."
2 days and 1 auction later - I am now the proud owner of a beautiful, white Dutailier glider with not so bad yellow and green fabric... all for the ridiculous price of...... ::drumroll please:: $35!! Yes, that is correct, $35 for a glider that normally sells for at least $400. As for the fact that it's white and the fabric isn't a total match and lack of ottoman I would say... white is the new espresso, what fabric and who needs an ottoman?? WonderMom is going to make new covers for the cushions, the white wood actually fits in the room quite nicely, and I've found that a regular stool works just peachy! SCORE!!
Thanks, Mom!! You rock (once again).
Wyatt and I were so excited to get it in the room - he even put in some "practice" time... probably the cutest thing he's done so far (well, at least this weekend - he's pretty precious)... I can't wait for it to be a baby rather than a teddy bear!

29 weeks and 1 day!

Sorry for the delay… this week has been full of big events so I am running a little behind. First of all, I would like to say, “YAAAAY Kris Allen!!!!” Wyatt, Crumb and I were all very pleased with the outcome of American Idol. My thoughts on last night's TV performances are: Canes, you need to step it up – quick … and So You Think You Can Dance is going to be AWESOME!!!

Here are the weekly stats:
How far: 29 weeks (and 1 day)
Weight gain: Hanging out around 20-25 lbs
Baby weight: Crumb weighs a healthy 2.7-3 lbs!
Maternity clothes: I think this might be the last week this question is included in the survey… have you seen me?? Yes, I’m in maternity clothes.
Stretch marks: Still a negative… those 2 red lines you might see in my side photo are courtesy of a Lucy hug! :)
Sleep: ehhh
Best moment this week: My walk around the “big block” with Wyatt – he makes me happy.
Movement: I can tell that he is really starting to fill up the space he has in there. His movements are more like soft pushes and rolls than the jabs and kicks I have been feeling. Don’t get me wrong, he still gets a good kick in the ribs in every once in a while… Have I mentioned how much I love feeling him move??
Cravings: They have begun… shrimp, pancakes, oranges, strawberries, sweet tea…
Labor signs: I’m getting very familiar with these Braxton Hicks contractions.
Breakdowns: Just a few, “I’m annoyed for no reason” episodes.
Belly Button: That poor thing changes every hour. Right now the left side is poking out a little.
What I miss: celebrating Memorial Day with a few cold beers
Looking forward to: My 3 day weekend and our next appointment (Wed).
Milestones: Crumb’s brain can now control his breathing and body temperature. He is starting to look less wrinkled as he packs on the pounds! Way to go Crumb!

CANES WIN GAME 7!!!

GO CANES!!! Yeah baby!!

28 Weeks!

Well, another week down! I can’t say that this week went by as quickly as the other weeks have… I just haven’t been feeling 100%. This thing they call sleep is becoming more and more elusive the bigger I get. I knew this would happen but it still doesn’t change the fact that I am a sleep kind of girl… I need it! It’s making me not feel so hot and emotionally, I just haven’t felt like myself. I’m easily annoyed at work, I’m not getting along with people I usually do, I cry at the drop of a hat… Whew!! What fun! Bottom line – it’s all worth it… assuming the people in my life can hang with me until I come out of this little funk. Crumb is doing great and moving more and more every day (unless there is family around that would like to feel/see him).
This past weekend was full of big happenings. My sister, Phoebe, graduated from college!! I am so proud of her I could pop (not that kind of pop!). She graduated with a photography degree and I just know she is destined for greatness. I can’t wait to see what she does.

The other big thing was Mother’s Day. This wasn’t a big day for me (although I do consider myself a mother in the making) but it should have been for my mom. However, with it being Phoebe’s graduation day, our celebrations of mom were put on the back burner. In thinking back over this I realized that this Mother’s Day really summed up my mom rather well. My mom - my tree-hugging, bad joke telling, best Charleston dancing, Obama loving, brain sharing, fast knitting, liberal hippie, book reading, Sudoku mastering, creative, unselfish, supporting, loving, funny, goofy, silly, brilliant, inspiring mom is the most amazing woman ever. Our whole lives she has happily (at least it seems to me) put herself on the back burner. What was important to her was only really important if it meant something to us, her children. I have been replaying pieces of my childhood/adolescence since finding out that Crumb was on the way, all the while trying to gather little tidbits of wisdom from this wise woman. There are tons of things that she gave me that I hope I can give to Crumb – I think though, if I can only master one of her many remarkable traits, I hope I can be as selfless as she is. I hope I can live my life for my children the way she has lived her life for us. I can think of no better gift from a mother to a child. I only wish there was a great enough gift to give back to this incredible person that I am lucky enough to call my friend – my mom.
So, Happy Mother's Day, mom. Thank you for being...

The Facts:

How far: 28 weeks
Weight gain: 25 lbs…. wow
Baby weight: 2.5 lbs
Maternity clothes: I am actually sporting a non-maternity dress today – thank you very much!
Stretch marks: Nope!
Sleep: Like I mentioned previously… I need it!!
Best moment this week: Watching Phoebe walk across the stage
Movement: Tons! Crumb even kicked Wyatt in the ear! He was trying to “hear the heartbeat” and Crumb gave him a nice swift kick to the head. It was pretty funny. You can definitely see the movements from the outside now. My belly looks like a bowl full of jelly sometimes when he’s really wiggly.
Cravings: Pancakes!! I might have to make some when I get home tonight!
Labor signs: Still having Braxton Hicks contractions but the doctors aren’t worried about them
Breakdowns: Plenty – I’m sorry family/friends… please hang with me!
Belly Button: It gets a little further out every day.
What I miss: sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping
Looking forward to: 5:00pm Friday, Phoebe coming home, the pool opening
Milestones: Took my 1 hour glucose test yesterday – we should find out the results in 3-5 days. Crumb’s checkup went great and we got to hear his heartbeat again… I love that sound.

Here we are:

27 Weeks

Hello 3rd Trimester!!!
Wow, can you believe that we are in the final trimester? I am having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Crumb will be here in 13 weeks (give or take some days). As one of my emails said, "This is the point on the roller coaster where you throw your arms up in the air and wail like there's no tomorrow. Weeeee!!"

How far: 27 Weeks - 3rd Trimester!!
Weight gain: +20-23 lbs and proud of it (now)... I have gotten over my "Why does everyone look at me when 'Brick House' comes on the radio" complex.
Baby weight: a little over 2 lbs!! What a big guy!
Maternity Clothes: Oh yes... I am even moving up to the tents!
Stretch Marks: We're still holding strong!
Sleep: I had been sleeping well.. the past few nights have been a struggle for some reason.
Best Moment This Week: Watching my belly wiggle like jello. Getting the bamboo blanket that mom knitted for Crumb. My birthday celebrations. The Canes going up 2-1 against Boston. Surviving the "tornado". Officially signing up with a day care (that might have been last week).
Movement: Crumb is quite the wiggle worm. Right this very moment he is having his own personal dance party. I tried to get it on video but I don't think it translated very well. I'll keep trying.
Cravings: Orange juice. I went on a big ice cream kick but that has settled down. My birthday cake was a big hit.
Labor signs: Started having some Braxton Hicks contractions. Dr. brought me in just to check on everything and we got a clean bill of health. We are just practicing and plan to keep it that way for at least the next 10-11 weeks.
Breakdowns: Just a few random, "I think I'll go cry this out in private" moments.
Belly Button: The top has surrendered and is now enjoying life on the outside... the bottom has attached itself to my spine I think. He's not going anywhere... for now.
What I Miss: My Peedie Pie
Looking Forward To: Our first baby class (tonight). The Canes game (Fri). Phoebe's Graduation (Sun)!! Our next dr. appt (Wed).
Milestones: Well, we've made it to the 3rd Trimester!! Crumb can now open his eyes and make facial expressions!
